空を見て、雲を描いて、一息つく時

今年に入ってからというもの、ノンストップで仕事が忙しい。

景気が悪くなる前も、この季節にこんなに忙しいことってあったかな。

はたして、実際に景気が良くなりつつあるからなのか、それとも、広告業界が良くなることを望んで賭けに出ているのか。

今度転んだら痛そうだな。

Some Feelings Lose Their Strength When Actually Said in Words

I've been trying different approaches to color in photoshop. Wanting to avoid the too clean washy look, I've been trying to show more of the thick painterly look in digital painting. Need much more study and practice, I feel.

The End of the Old Sketchbook and the Beginning of the New One

My sketchbook has just come to its end last week.

Just like lots of things in your life, I started a new one. This is my fifth pad since my sketch journal started in 2006. This time it's smaller than the last one, but comes with two different tones; white and cream.

I like the texture and weight of the paper so far.

When I finished the old sketch pad, I looked through all the four sketchbooks I completed in the last 4 years. I feel like I've changed and not have changed at the same time.

Is my art going anywhere?

Has my drawing skill got any better?

I don't know, and I guess I don't really need to know. But I've found a drawing with a similar concept as the drawing above, done on Jul 13, 06.

Heat Out of Head

This was a drawing I did, trying to draw a profile without reference. I was trying to test my ability of drawing out of head. I could manage to draw the head okay, but I failed big time on the neck and the shoulder, on which I seem to always get lost. So I had to redraw the part with some reference.

This artist I follow, Sam Nielson, was writing about Construction and Expression in art a few days ago. It was very interesting. It reminded me again that I really should go back to learn more about human anatomy.
