メモリアルでー

月曜日がメモリアルデーというわけで３連休。大きな予定はないけれど、ちょくちょく人に会ったり、用事を済ませたりと、まったり充実の週末になる予定。

そんな連休初日、先日携帯を無くしてしまったので、新しいのを買ってきた。前の携帯、なんだかんだで４年ぐらい持ってたけど、べつに買い替える必要はまだ無かったんだけどなー。大して電話使わないし。でも、このタイミングでまた２年縛られるのもばかばかしいので、不本意ながらスマートフォンデビューです。

Octopus Glory

My newest piece finally finished. It kept expanding and took much longer than I wanted to, but finally, I can say it's done.

新作です。やっとできた。海ものはしばらく封印した方がいいかもしれない。

Dave Lovejoy Studio

Yu and I became friend with this awesome artist David Lovejoy through Yu's exhibition in March. When we visit his exhibition in downtown last month, he showed us his magical studio. Since it was such an inspiring studio, I asked him if I could do a drawing of the space.

So, I went back to his studio last week for photoshooting for my references.
The image above is just the entrance, but it already looks like some kind of a movie set.
I haven't decided which view point I'm going to draw, but it'll be interesting to include this door way somehow.

p.s. I'm almost done with the project that I've been working on for the last 2 months. It will be posted here very soon. I promise.

Happy Mother's Day!
母の日ということで、母の絵を描いた。
今更ながら、自分は性格も顔も母親似なのだなぁと顔を描きながらしみじみ思った。
自分に似ているせいか描いていて妙に照れくさくなる。
いつもご苦労様です。

トラム

昨日は久しぶりに、トラムウェイに外登り。体はなまってて全然登れなかったけど、天気も良く、一日中遊んで楽しんできた。今日はちょっとしたフリーの仕事があったりで、相変わらず載せる絵がないので少し前のスケッチでその場しのぎ。

Preview

This new project is taking a lot longer than I expected. I decided to share a little preview because I have nothing else to share and I can't wait to share this piece. Bear with me a little longer...(I always thought it'd spell "bare with me" which apparently could mean "get naked with me"...oops)

Nice Day Out, Sick Day In.

Today was supposed to be the last day of the session for the figure drawing workshop (it was originally last week until it got cancelled), but I decided not to go because I got a little sick. Instead, I'm staying home, a little relaxed but still working on my main project. It's such a nice day out.

A very close friend of mine from high school is visiting me from Japan next week. Very Excited.

Agua

I'm working on some new project (and the drawing workshop got canceled because the model didn't show up), so I don't have many sketches to share recently. This is something I did today while I was brainstorming about the project, which involves some marine creatures...again. I should be able to finish it in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

自家像

前にこのアパートの絵を描いてから、そこそこ時間がたった気がするので、また描いてみた。そんなに変わったところもない気がするけれど、たまにふと自分の記録をとるように描きたくなる。こんな具合にいろんな人のアパートや家を描きたいって思っているんだけど、興味のある方連絡ください。細かな写真を送ってくれれば、好きなアングルから描きます。

それぞれの居住空間にはいろんなパーソナルな思いがつまっていて、きっとその人にしか分からない、なかなか楽しい絵になるはずだと思うのです。人によっては自分の肖像がよりもある意味思い出深く、なんせ飾っても照れくさくない。

I think I see this model the most frequently. I like how these came out, especially the one on top. I've been going to the class a little late recently so that I can save my energy toward the end. Notice any difference? I feel like my sense of value has improved ever so slightly. no?
