31st!

またひとつ大人になりました。今年はケーキ食べつくしで、満腹です。

フットワークをつけたいと願って始まった２０１０年。

４ヶ月後にして、ようやく少しずつ動き始める予感。

忙しくなってきた。

ラッシュの仕事がやってくる。

その直前に微妙な空き時間があったので絵を描いて待つ。

うまい寿司が食べたい。

最近、久々に寿司欲求が高まってる。

今週末仕事があるかもしれん。

まいったなぁ。

あいだ

前回のポストからすこし間があいてしまった。

理由は主に２つ。

１つはフリーランスの仕事をやったりしてて単純に時間がない。

もうひとつは、最近どうも気に入る絵が描けてない。といっても、普段からそんな大したものが描けてるわけじゃないし、この絵がそんなに特別いいというわけでも全然ないんだけれど。

ただ、普段以上にどうも最近スケッチが不調気味。理由はよくわかないけど。

とにもかくにも、最近は友達のiPhone Appを手伝っています。ゲームのキャラデザインとかそういうの。普段の仕事とちがってこれはなかなか面白い。

火頭

最近はとても暖かい。とても過ごしやすい。

こんなに過ごしやすいと、怠けるのが心地よ過ぎて、クリエイティブなエネルギーもなかなかすっかり眠りこけてしまっている。まぁ何かを焦ってるわけでもないし、これはこれで構わなんだけど。

ところで、昨日、結婚２周年を迎えた。日本での式は去年の６月だったんだけど、アメリカのなんとも殺風景な役所で面白おかしく最初に式をあげたのがちょうど２年前の昨日。

それからいろいろあったし、これからもいろいろあるのだろうけど、とりあえず、なんだかんだと愉快に切り抜けてきたので、これからもそうしてゆきたいものだ。

A spin-off project from the regular portrait project.

My Illustrator skill is much more limited, compared to my Photoshop skill.

But, every once in a while clients ask for some graphic style using Illustrator, and I get to utilize my poor skill. I should start practicing and learning more about Illustrator.

Amigo Laundry

This is the laundromat I always go.

The place, I think, is owned by this Mexican family.

There is always this Mexican guy who is so hard-working.

He's always cleaning the place and helps me carry my laundry whenever he spots me parking my car.

When I'm waiting for my laundry is a really good time to draw some sketches and think about random less meaningful things.

Portrait #2

Here is the portrait of the brother.

I'm not entirely happy with the result, but I say it's close enough.

The picture I was using had such a subtle expression and it was really challenging to convey that. This is a pose when he pretends he smells something bad.

When I do portrait, my goal is not to copy exactly, but to somehow emphasize the subtle characteristic of the person with slight comical feeling.

I need a lot more practice, but this is fun.
